VAC Product News
January 2009

The VAC Family has a new edition. We want to share in the joy of announcing the birth of Randy’s first child-Samantha Agnes Estes, born on December 26, weighing in at 6 lb 2 oz and 18 inches long. Samantha and mom (Susan) did great and were back home within a couple of days. We are very happy for the Estes family and the addition of their precious baby girl!

V200EHT-the V200 Extra High Temperature units are in stock. This pneumatic (only) unit is good for -40 to 325° F. As you can see, there is no indicator, since plastic cannot withstand this heat. Unfortunately, feedback is not an option-no high temp feedback!! It is a basic pneumatic positioner with special seals and painting. Of course any spindle can be used with this unit as well as cam-so it can be used for rotary or linear applications. Ordering code would be: V200P-DX-XX-X-CX-EHT. (XX-X Blank cover-no indicator)

Reversing the action on the positioner
http://www.vacaccessories.com/pdfs/Troubleshooting%20Guide.pdf

The above is a link to a troubleshooting page on our website. The whole document is worth saving but the second half deals with reversing the action of a V100 or V200 positioner-P or E. While relatively simple, it continues to be a bit confusing, especially if a field technician is calling and someone before him did not follow ALL of the procedures. One of the “key” procedures that is missed is once you reverse the tubing and flip the cam over, BEFORE you tighten the cam, you need to turn the air supply back on and drive the unit/actuator to the “reverse” direction-then lock the cam nut and set screw. This DOES NOT change the fail position of a single acting actuator-that is determined by the actuator/spring and how it is mounted to the valve. Follow the instructions in the troubleshooting guide and this will be a successful procedure.

We will be switching our main supplier of EX Ips from Control Air to ABB. The key reason for this change is quality. We feel that on a valve package the ABB unit is more durable. We have been selling ABB units for several years, but mainly for ATEX requirements. The return ratio is very low and the performance is good. The change will take place over time and will apply to the V100 and V200 products. This will have very little effect on the approvals, pricing and delivery will not change.
